Our love story began in Bucharest, Romania back in 2012 during the study exchange program. Unfortunately, the Summer Of Love came to an end, and we both went back home to finish our studies. During two very long years, we became loyal customers of Ryanair and… after discovering a mutual love for life, travel, food, and beers, the rest is history! Currently we are settled in sunny Malaysia and we got engaged in Myanmar!
I’m really happy to share this wedding story of Martyna & Guillaume.
I met with the groom late in the morning where he had booked the hotel room to get ready for the wedding. We had a little chat, I took a few shots of him and headed out to “Akmeninė užeiga” where Martyna was getting ready too. I really like when couples decide to do the first look. It’s always such a special and intimate moment to capture!
After the first look and a few family portraits we headed out to Trakai, where the ceremony was held in a church. Martyna & Guillaume got married and it was time for our photoshoot.
I want to say a special thank you to this couple because even though we had to shoot in a freezing autumn wind, they did not complain a single bit and we made some beautiful pictures to remember.
Luckily, straight after the shoot Monika from “Meiles legendos” was already waiting with a hot cup of tea and we continued the celebration inside.

HOW DID YOU MEET EACH OTHER?
WEDDING DRESS
Martyna: I love simplicity, so for my wedding day, I also chose a very clean, elegant, and minimal look.
WEDDING AND CEREMONY VENUES
Since a lot of guests were coming from abroad, we were looking for the venue near Vilnius, which would be surrounded by beautiful Lithuanian nature, and which could accommodate the number of our guests. Akmeninė Užeiga and Trakų Bazilika scored all the requirements!
MOST MEMORABLE WEDDING MOMENT
Martyna: The wedding ceremony in the Church was one of the most memorable moments for me. When I entered the Church, I was so grateful for all the people who came because they love and support us. Instead of crying, I could not stop smiling!
Guillaume: It is hard to pick just one moment since I had a lot of magical moments that day… the moment I saw Martyna for the first time, the beautiful Chruch ceremony, and the party where we saw the happy faces of our family and friends who made an effort to come and celebrate with us (guests came from Malaysia, Martinique, Germany, Belgium, France, etc.). It was amazing to see them all in one place!
BIGGEST CHALLENGES
Even if we had our extremely helpful wedding planner Monika, it was still very hard to organize our wedding from Malaysia. Since we couldn’t travel to Lithuania often, one of the biggest challenges was to get our Lithuanian marriage license. Also, before the wedding day, we didn`t visite our wedding venue or the Church. We didn`t try our wedding cake or dinner food, which added some frustration.
WEDDING TRADITIONS
Guillaume: It was important for us to have both French and Lithuanian traditions. For the French traditions, the main one was the speeches from our fathers, siblings, and the best men. From Lithuanian traditions, we had our parents welcoming us with some bread, salt, and water. Also, our parents brought us the fire as a symbol of the family fireplace.
WEDDING THEME AND DECOR
We wanted a warm and cozy wedding with a homey vibe, so we chose a rustic wedding theme with a dash of elegance and romance. Since our wedding was in autumn, our main table decoration was potted autumn flowers which all found a home after the wedding :)
FOOD AND DRINKS
We wanted our international guests to discover the taste of Lithuania, so we chose Lithuanian cuisine. As my family is from Bordeaux, we brought Champagne, red and white wines from France. We had a wine tasting earlier in France to be sure that it will be fitting with the food. And we obviously picked Lithuanian local beers as for me it’s one of the best in the world!
FIRST DANCE
We wanted to open the dance floor with the live band, so we chose “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Toploaders, witch Marija Beržė ir grupė performed wonderfully.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES
Planning can get quite intense, so try to convert your planning time to fun dates with each other. Also, things will most certainly happen that you didn`t expect. We can tell from our experience that those things will turn to great stories to tell your friends. So don`t stress all the small things!
